A recent study by a local men's magazine has revealed a very interesting statistic about the current recession that many will find hard to swallow. There has actually been an increase in the number of hair loss cases amongst both men and women since the start of the recession. This strange correlation between two seemingly unrelated matters will be what we investigate in this article.

Many factors that the recession has on people have been analyzed and one determining factor stands out as the most probable culprit in causing hair loss during recessions. This is stress. The type of stress that has shown to be the most "damaging" is one where there are high levels of anxiety about the future. The recession and the associated uncertainty that it brings makes it one of the best catalysts for stress to occur and its side-effects like hair loss to happen. The problem is that we as humans just don't deal with stress very well. It is only in this age that we are faced with such mounting levels of stress. Previously in simpler times, stress was really very minimal. It is because of this huge level of stress that our body's immunities, basic function and even hair starts to degrade or even fail.

The thing is that stress affects people differently. Some people are able to cope with it quite well while some simply can't function even with even the smallest quantities of stress. Those that can handle stress well will more than likely not experience hair loss due to the recession. It is those that don't handle stress very well that will be severely affected by the recession. Over-exposure to stress will cause restlessness, insomnia, malnutrition due to not having an appetite, all leading to hair loss in the end. It should also be noted that hair loss caused by stress affect both men and women equally unlike other types of hair loss.

The stress component is magnified when people are subjected to the stress on a daily basis. Further research by the magazine has shown that those people exposed to daily bouts of high stress are much more likely to experience the side-effects of it like hair loss. It was demonstrated that stress actually builds on itself, sort of like a plane in a spiral spin downwards. The best way to not develop the bad side-effects of stress is to settle whatever problem that is causing the stress in the first place.

The main problem with the recession is that the problem is so big that no single person can ever hope to solve to the problem to eliminate the stress that it comes with. So instead of looking to solve the problem you have to learn to manage the stress itself. Trying to solve the problem of the recession is simply going to get you more stressed and lose more of you hair. Below we have identified some tried and true techniques that you can use to better manage and control your stress.

One of the best ways to deal with stress is to exercise. A simple regime of exercise routines a few times a week can do wonders in clearing up your mind so you can better think about the active management of stress. The problem is that some people get so caught up in their problem that they think that exercise a waste of their time and they should allocate all their time to activities to solve their issue. This is certainly not the best way to handle it as exercise gives you the ability to clear you mind and allow you to arrange your thoughts better after. It certainly isn't a waste of time as some erroneously think it so.

Once you have enough time to clear your head and area ready to tackle stress, the first thing you need to do it to think of every scenario that you think can possibly happen to you. This would include all the good things like a promotion in work and even the worst like retrenchment or even bankruptcy. Under each possible event you have to list your options to take. The whole exercise is to map out your decision process should any event happen so that you can get a much clearer picture of what is going on in any situation. This will help you to reduce your stress substantially as you no longer have anxiety about what to do if something bad were to happen in the future. You would have already planned for it.

Overall, we know that hair loss in a recession is almost always caused by stress. Stress is caused by the anxiety that the recession brings and it is this stress that has to be properly managed before hair loss is stopped. You should plan for any eventuality and not get too nervous about the future. You should instead be finding ways to keep yourself afloat and not obsess about the negatives.
